Here are some German words that sound/look like English words, but do mean quite something else (those words are called false friends).
after = der After (anus)
also = also (therefore)
bald = bald (soon)
blaze = die blase (bladder, blister)
brief = der Brief (letter)
chef = der Chef (boss)
kind = das Kind(child)
Beware of those false friends or you might loose some real friends .-)

This last one is particularly hilarious because you'll find several faux German stores in the US labeled as a "Gift Haus"!
